Paul Baier a father of a fourteen year old girl who has a written agreement for his daughter to quit Facebook for five months, but in return the daughter is getting $200 cash.
The father posted all of this on his blog. “Hopefully this will inspire a few other dad/daughter to consider a similar hiatus.” Quotes Paul. I really do not agree with this, why not just tell your daughter to quit if you really want her to that bad. That may have not been the main goal but if it was, I think parenting would have been a better option than paying $200 to your daughter.
The agreement states that the father agrees to pay her $50 on April 15th of this year and then when the contract is over on June 26th he will pay her $150. Her Facebook account must be deactivated from February 4th to June 26th. He will get to change the password to deactivate the account so that it will prevent the daughter from re-activating the Facebook account.
Many people have different opinions on this, some think it is wrong and bad parenting and some think its okay and teaches her hard work to get paid which I really don’t get how quitting Facebook for 5 months is “Hard Work”, but anyways, now we know that there is someone out there willing to pay to get their kid off Facebook, and maybe she will learn that there is more to life than Facebook and she will get out more and have real socialization. This could actually be a good experience and a $200 well spent.
